Introduction
Menorah Park’s grantmaking supports our vision of older adults in the Bay Area having access to safe, high quality, affordable housing that supports them in staying active, healthy, and engaged in community life.
In service of our mission, Menorah Park provides affordable senior housing in San Francisco and makes targeted philanthropic investments to enhance housing stability and quality of life for low-income older adults throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. We are proud that Menorah Park was founded and is led by the Jewish Community,

Collaboration – We believe that we are stronger together, supporting partnerships and encouraging collaboration across organizations and sectors.
Learning & Innovation – We promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement, investing in innovations and evidence-based solutions.
Accountability – We are responsible stewards of our assets, leveraging them for greater impact and ensuring demonstrated benefit to older adults.
Goal & Strategies
The goal of Menorah Park’s grantmaking program is to keep lower-income older adults housed and to help create more affordable housing options for older adults. To accomplish this, we support strategies for protecting, preserving, and producing housing for lower-income older adults, including options for those who are currently experiencing homelessness, those who are renters, and those who are homeowners.
- Strategies for older adults experiencing homelessness
We invest in programs and organizations that utilize a “housing first” approach, helping older adults experiencing homelessness exit the streets rapidly and move into sustainable housing. We also support broad efforts to increase the services in, and supply of, permanent supportive housing. - Strategies for older adult, lower-income renters
We focus on helping older adult renters stay in their housing and communities with a particular emphasis on helping those with moderate and severe housing cost burdens, defined as more than 30% and 50% of their monthly income going toward housing. We support broad efforts to increase the supply of affordable senior housing to prevent older adults from becoming housing cost burdened. - Strategies for older adult, lower-income home owners
We support community programs and approaches that allow older adults to age in place while maximizing their quality of life, with an emphasis on fostering social connection and intergenerational interdependence.
